Thrilled to support clients for DIY SOS Big Build for Children in Need

We were over the moon to see the £1m makeover of the Blackpool Carers Centre finally unveiled to the world in a special edition of the BBC's DIY SOS programme last night.

ICG worked with clients Brysdales and Jangro to support the incredible project which this summer saw the transformation of a run down Victorian house into a modern, fun environment where young carers can go to enjoy themselves and get help and support when needed.

Morecambe based Jangro member Hygiene Cleaning Supplies donated cleaning products and manpower while Brysdales rallied a team of staff, including CEO John Green, to help in the gardens; they also donated five sets of brightly coloured lockers and a first aid cabinet.

ICG's PR team Paula Holden and Julie Hackett were there to support Jangro and Brysdales and ended up getting stuck in themselves - shovels in hand!

The project was designed by TV favourite Lawrence Llewellyn-Bowen, who was himself a young carer. The Blackpool Young Carers Centre will provide invaluable support to the young carers in Blackpool ranging from ages 5-16.

Elizabeth Porter, who heads up specialist storage solutions company Brysdales said: "When I heard that DIY SOS was calling for materials, tradespeople and volunteers to help with this amazing project, I immediately called a meeting to see what we could do to assist.

"I was delighted when four members of the team volunteered and I agreed that they could go and help during working time. In addition, I wanted to donate products so we pulled together a package worth more than £1000."

John Fletcher, of Hygiene Cleaning Supplies, was joined by his wife Marie.

He said: "Once we heard about this fantastic project, we wanted to do our bit to help. It's such a wonderful idea to give young carers a space where they can enjoy themselves and get to know other carers in a supportive environment. They do such amazing work and deserve a special place that's just for them."
