As a responsive and proactive marketing partner, we have seen VGC play a key role in the sector from promoting women into construction to raising awareness about modern slavery and promoting initiatives such as Fairness Inclusion and Respect.

As leaders in the field for recruitment into the construction industry, ICG is pleased to be an extension of VGC’s marketing team.

A new brand

ICG first started working with senior management in 2018, evolving a dated brand identity and creating an inspirational new proposition known as ‘go beyond’.

The go beyond ethos has been implemented across the business including VGC’s Go Beyond Awards, and is aligned with key industry themes including labour desk collaboration, behavioual change, safety and inclusion.

With a new website in the pipeline, it was an opportunity to make further updates to the brand style.

At the heart of the brand project was the need to segment VGC’s core propositions – labour supply and projects.

We introduced ‘brick’ style graphics to segment information and signpost – a natural connection for a business in the construction sector. We also used colour and icons to support visual flow and convey complex information.

Recruitment focused website

VGC works hard to attract and recruit people to work into the construction sector.

One of the key requirements of the new website was to provide a dedicated recruitment function including job listings, searches and application processes for a wide range of unskilled, skilled, technical and management roles.

The website needed to integrate into VGC’s back office systems to create efficiencies and smarter ways of working.

Thanks to the company’s brand update, we created a website that was easy to navigate and appealed to a diverse workforce, including people whose first language is not English.

Taking a deep dive into the business’ key messaging, it was also an opportunity to profile VGC’s proven commitment to health and safety, social impact, investment in skills and the environment.

Creating social media content

With teams of people working on projects all over the country, social media has a real role to play in connecting people and profiling the remarkable everyday.

ICG works closely with VGC’s labour managers to collate a regular flow of content that demonstrates the breadth and scope of the company’s work at projects all over the UK.

From HS2 to Riverlinx and Thames Tideway, we live VGC’s world with its commitment to safety initiatives, mental health support, award wins and learning achievements.

The social media content across all the main channels is supported by regular monthly email marketing to profile company news and safety information.

On the campaign trail

We work collaboratively with VGC to produce marketing tools to support specific initiatives from safety to careers.

Equipping teams with the information they need to engage with clients and potential opportunities is an important part of our remit.

To support VGC’s work with schools and colleges, we produced a simple, eight-page explainer that shows the ‘what’, ‘where’ and ‘who’ of VGC.

We also worked with VGC’s recruitment consultants to create information to support business development opportunities with leading energy companies.
